Rating by category:
This hotel stands out for its personal service level - nothing was too much trouble and every staff member was focussed on the guests. Friendly smiles at reception, attentive service poolside and in the restaurant, calm professional spa treatments and thoughtful extras (such as culturally local customs demonstrations, etc.) - all were consistently provided. The food was excellent, the rooms well appointed and air- conditioned, although they were not particularly noise insulated, there was not much noise to bother us. We will be back!
We were here during the Songkran Festival - this was not planned, but a coincidence. For our teenage children - it was a blast! They loved it! For my retired Parents-in-law, it became tedious and restricting to be 'imprisoned' in the hotel unless you were tolerant of getting doused with water! At all other times of the year, I would recommend this hotel for everyone - at Songkran, only those tolerant of a real 'water war'!
The hotel is in a great location right in the centre of Chiang Mai. It's very tranquil, and a real oasis in the centre of town. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are beautifully finished. We really enjoyed the food at the restaurant and the Thai wine was really tasty.
As the hotel is built amongst the trees, it means that the pool area is very shady - which keeps it very cool but made it very difficult to sunbathe. Plus there were only a few sunloungers in the sun and that was only for short periods of the day.
lovely town retreat with an excellent staff, very quiet, lavish garden, small but fine breakfast buffet.Tamarind is in the middle of the city, nearby no mosquito. This hotel I recommend warmly to all fellow travelers (..watch out for the large & beautiful suites)
Some rooms are small (but always nice ). Access to the hotel sunday evening not easy (Sunday evening walking street, starts 3 PM), better handle it with the help of the hotel
The bamboo entrance.
The room size is slightly smaller and the furnitures are sort of blocking the cabinets.
The service was excellent and the surroundings, even though it is in the 'old town', is exceptional, an oasis in the midst of the city. We would recommend this hotel to anyone, and will certainly stay there the next time we are in Chiang Mai.
Excellant location specially for the sunday market
Too many insects and lizards
My fiance and myself feel that our stay at Tamarind Village was amazing. It's the small touches that matter, the attentiveness of staff and their consideration and genuine care for the stay of their guests. All our wants were met and exceeded. The welcoming atmosphere was perfect. Everything from the food and location to the care and consideration put in by the general manager and rest of staff for the guests. It was an amazing stay and we plan on coming back!!
The only drawback for me was the bed. It was a bit harder than I am used to sleeping on.
It's tasteful and elegant without being over-bearing. I think the interior designer did a great job by adding touches of Northern Thai decorations to the rooms. The staff were so sweet and extremely attentive. I could not fault the service in any way. The food was terrific! I loved it! They knocked on my door one night with a birthday cake and candles - it was such a lovely surprise. We all sang happy birthday together. What a beautiful memory of Thai kindness and thoughtfulness.
Only one small thing, that the pool can be used only between 7am-7pm.
Amazing to find such a calm and relaxing place in the center of town. Heritage look and nice decoration
The staff is amazingly friendly, the facility beautiful. The rooms are a bit small for Western standards, but the hospitality makes up for it. great massage therapists!
Thai experience, excellent Staff & facilities.
overpriced and we suffered noise and had to change rooms after 2 days .room was very small and poor value
Central location with beautiful, quiet and peaceful setting
Very disappointing dinner for the Li Peng Festival. Restaurant well out of town, Good food but long drive and lacking in atmosphere.
Beautiful countryside style of north Thailand, the restaurant is great.
Excellent location Good food Thai ambiance
